The Construction Source

curtain wall and heritage building glazing along with interior glazing throughout the building. As part of their scope, they also provided ACM panels integrated into the curtain wall system, interior and exterior glass guardrails and handrails, structural glass elevator enclosures with stainless steel finishes, glass walls, glass canopies, a glass atrium, and all glass vestibules. Other highlights of the project include the podium curtain wall, which Phoenix Glass fabricated and installed. That included a four-sided SSG curtain wall, structural glass wall with fins up to 22 feet in height, aluminum doors, all glass doors and automatic doors. The project also involved revitalizing a heritage window. That meant coming up with a custom, project-specific window design to retain the old cast in heritage window framing on the exterior while revitalizing the glazing and interior frame appearance. The system was designed to replace the glass without changing any exterior façade; the framing is completely hidden from the exterior “so you would never know the framing is new,” Sunny says. The building’s original heritage fins and louvers were also revitalized – they were removed and replaced with aluminum louvers and aluminum vertical fin designed and painted to match the original heritage look of the façade. “In a sense, that was kind of a showcase of everything we can do,” Sunny says. “There were so many different glazing types and so many different scopes of work.” DECEMBER 2023
