Sunny calls that project “a truly once-in-a-lifetime development that maintains the history of Canada Post’s iconic structure while breathing new life to the area.” He says that Phoenix Glass was “thrilled” to be part of it, and they were excited to be able to collaborate with their clients, including PCL Construction and QuadReal Properties. As with The Workshop, Phoenix Glass was involved with The Post from an early stage, as that was also a design-assist project. They worked closely with the clients to simultaneously “meet their budget and schedule” and “get them the most beautiful building possible.” According to Sunny, they successfully achieved both objectives – the project was completed on time and on budget, the client was able to meet their tenancy dates, and the industry award is an obvious testament to the project’s beauty. “I’m very proud of what we pulled off there,” Sunny says. “On a personal note, I actually used to work at that building when I was going through university. It was neat to take on this project and watch that building get revitalized and witness all the changes. It was a project that was near and dear to my heart and I’m very happy with how it turned out.” Moving forward, Sunny says the goal for Phoenix Glass is to continue doing projects like that one – not only projects they can be proud of, but also projects that are sure to stand the test of time. “It’s nice to drive around town and look at some of the buildings we’ve done and know they are going to be there for a long time,” Sunny explains.
