The Construction Source

THE CONSTRUCTION SOURCE CANADA “Guided by the Secwépemc principle of k̓ wséltkten” – which means we are all family – “we’re proud to build meaningful projects that strengthen our Nation, create opportunities, and contribute to a balanced and prosperous future for all, “ David says. “This award celebrates our team’s hard work, community values, and industry achievements, reflecting our commitment to excellence and partnership.” SRM’s ability to build relationships and form industry partnerships – which that award recognizes – has been a big part of the company’s rapid growth, David believes. It’s something he personally has played a big role in since stepping into a business development role. “I’ve spent a lot of time attending conferences, meeting everyone in the industry, and finding ways to work together that benefit all parties,” he explains. “That has been a big mandate for us – building relationships. By working together and collaborating with other groups – Indigenous groups and non-Indigenous groups alike – we know we can accomplish a lot more than we can accomplish alone.” One example of a close partnership SRM has formed is with Emco Waterworks. Emco is the largest waterworks distributor in Canada, with a network of over 49 locations across the country – and though they have the institutional power of a national business, they also have a decentralized model, which means their individual locations can offer solutions specifically tailored to their local markets. Emco Waterworks Kamloops is the closest branch to SRM, and the two organizations have worked together very closely, collaborating on multiple impactful projects over the past few years. Additionally, Emco Waterworks Kamloops was a Gold Sponsor for SRM’s first annual golf tournament. In announcing that sponsorship, Emco Waterworks Kamloops wrote on LinkedIn that their company was “incredibly proud” of their relationship with SRM, and that it was “an honour to contribute to initiatives that drive real change.” In response, SRM offered “a huge kukstsémc” – meaning thank you – to Emco and their team. “Your generosity is driving real change in the Skwlāx te Secwepemcúl̓ ecw community, from wildfire recovery to empowering our youth,” they wrote. “We’re proud to have partners like Emco who help us turn our fundraising goals into reality.”
