Alex says that kind of industry recognition is very meaningful, not just to him but to every member of Brixen’s team. “We certainly don’t do it for the awards, but when you get recognized by your peers, there’s no better feeling. Winning an award isn’t just for myself or Andrew – it’s for our entire team, and they deserve it.” Alex credits the positive response to the calibre of the design, which includes an elaborate brick facade that integrates into the historic neighbourhood with care. He also credits the project’s “theme,” which he says is reflected in everything from the interiors to the marketing. “Everything captures that sense of Exhale, of leaving your stresses behind,” he says. “It all adds up to a very zen, tranquil feeling. I think kind of theme was unique to the industry, and I think people responded to it.” Moving forward, Alex says the goal is to deliver more award-worthy projects like that one – as well as some other kinds of award-worthy projects. He describes the firm as “evolving.” While forsale condominiums have been the backbone of their portfolio, they are actively diversifying into purpose-built rental. Their first such project – just over 300 units near Downsview Park – is well underway, with foundations and parking slabs nearing completion.
