They still have to bid on their tenders, of course, and sometimes they miss – “but we’re fortunate that we’ve able to work with a lot of clients year after year,” Scott says. “There are some big clients that we’ve been working with for 20-to-30 years,” he adds. “I think that’s a testament to the quality of work we do, and also to the quality of our employees. Most of the credit should go to the guys out on the jobs. They’re working with some really good equipment, but without our employees that equipment would just be sitting in the parking lot. Their loyalty and effort are the reason we deliver to such a consistently high standard.” Many of Uni-Jet’s team members are just as longstanding as their clients. Again, a lot of employees have been with the company for 20-to-30 years, with some exceeding the 30-year mark. Scott attributes that retention and loyalty to a few factors, including the challenge and variety of their work, and the mentorship from the senior team members. “It’s something different every day,” he says. “There’s lots of work locally if you want to stay in town, and there’s also the chance to travel and take on unique projects elsewhere. Add to that the chance to learn from senior people who’ve been doing this for decades. For the right person, that’s very enticing.”
