represent them. “On paper and in person, a home can feel like two different worlds,” Mathieu notes. “So phase after phase, we tweak and optimize the model. We’re always making it better.” Again, Mathieu emphasizes those adjustments are almost always motivated by feedback from customers. He describes both Landric Homes and Construction LaVérendrye as very responsive to their customers’ wants and needs. “We pay attention to what our customers are telling us and we give them what they want,” he says. “It’s not about us and what we want, it’s about them. One thing I remember from when I first started with Construction LaVérendrye is something the founder, Pierre Lake, told me. He said ‘if a guy wants a green suit, pull out the green light.’ That’s how we’ve always operated. We listen to our customers.” Landric Homes also knows how to construct quality homes. Again, Mathieu says that’s largely a credit to their experience. He also says it’s a credit to their team, starting with their leader, Marc Landry, who took over Construction LaVérendrye from Pierre in 2008 and formed Landric Homes in 2019. Mathieu describes Marc as a leader whose vision and judgment set the standard for everyone around him. “When Marc talks, everybody listens. He’s the one who decides to buy a field and create a new neighbourhood. And that’s what we’re doing – we’re creating neighbourhoods, and all these neighbourhoods start with Marc’s vision.” Landric Homes’ team also includes a longstanding roster of subcontractors and tradespeople. The company has cultivated those relationships over many years, and Mathieu says they also deserve a lot of credit for the company’s success. “A lot of our trades have been with us for more than 10 years,” Mathieu says. “It’s a win-win relationship – what’s good for them has to be good for us, and we have to make sure we’re all on the same page. When you have that kind of foundation, things move forward naturally.” THE CONSTRUCTION SOURCE CANADA
