create an outcome for the person inside. I gained a whole different understanding of how we can build better, more efficiently, more sustainably, and with greater longevity.” These days, armed with that understanding, Dennis and his small team – typically himself and one or two employees – take on a limited number of projects at any given time, which allows them to dedicate the proper time and attention to detail to each one. The company operates primarily within about 30 minutes of Lacombe, and their projects range from smaller renovated valued around $100,000 to larger renovations, additions, and new builds valued over $2 million. Within that niche, Dennis believes what sets Borren Builders apart is their deliberately small size, and the level of personal service that comes with that. As the owner of the company, he personally touches every aspect of the build and he communicates with clients directly. “I’m the guy the client talks to on the phone, and I’m the guy they see on the job site,” Dennis says. “I’m not like your average sales guy for a largescale builder – someone who isn’t on the tools anymore because he doesn’t have time for it while running a business. Staying smaller means I am the guy on your site. I am the guy overseeing the details physically in person.” “I like working directly and having a personal relationship with my clients,” he continues. “Some people find real value in that. Others are just looking for a financial transaction to get them into a home, and there are builders who serve those clients well – but those aren’t the clients I’m chasing. I’m looking for someone who’s interested in being involved in their build, who’s excited about it. It’s their dream, and I’d like to help them make it happen.” APRIL 2026
