in the shop, and their team in the field. Dennis describes that team as “very well-organized” and full of “really high performing people who care about what they do.” Dennis’ Dirtworx has grown a lot in recent years, so they have some relatively new employees, but they also have a lot of longstanding people, just like they have longstanding clients. According to Robbin, between 60 and 70 of their team members have been there at least three years, with many having been there five years or even longer. The team at Dennis’ Dirtworx credits that retention to the strength of the company’s culture: “We are a fast paced, progressive company with a strong focus on team work,” Robbin says. “Employees are treated like family. I think people really like the atmosphere here.” Also, Kaley Jensma adds, Dennis’ Dirtworx provides “excellent benefits and health plans” for all employees, they offer competitive wages, and there are “many opportunities for career advancement” at the company. Those factors also contribute to employee loyalty. In addition, Dennis’ Dirtworx works 12 months out of the year, and Dennis says they’re “always aggressive in keeping months of work ahead.” That consistency of work, Robbin points out, is also important to retention. “Work is always coming through the door, so there’s no need to look elsewhere.” Finally, because Dennis’ Dirtworx does such a variety of work and performs such a variety of tasks, the team stays engaged. “There’s no boredom,” Pete says – and he believes the team appreciates that.
