He admits that sounds obvious, but he’s seen how much his team members appreciate it in practice: “I treat all of my trades very respectfully. I’m very open with them. I work with them. I take their advice. We collaborate. There’s an oldschool mentality in construction where the general contractor is a dictator, but that’s not my mentality. Brandon believes that also goes a long way: “Once I find the right person, I stick with them,” he says. “That works very well. I’ve had the same flooring contractor and cabinet people since day one. My plumber is going on 10 years. I’ve been working with my electrician nine or 10 years as well.
