Up to Kode also strives to build strong relationships with their subcontractors and trades. Though they try to self-perform as much as possible, they do still need to work with some external partners – such as plumbers, electricians, and HVAC contractors – and those partners tend to be among the best in their fields. “Those relationships are usually really long-term,” Kody says. “We like to work with good people who do good quality work.” Kody credits Up to Kode’s consistently high standard of workmanship to all their team members – including both their in-house employees, as well as their select roster of longstanding subcontractors. He says what they all have in common is that “they care.” “The guys who work for me also care,” he says. “That’s why they work here. They care about quality. That’s what it all comes down to. That’s how we maintain quality, because I can’t be on every job site all day every day. I have to be able to also rely on my team for quality control.” MAY 2023
