their regular roster of suppliers and operators, Hawk River is working on a number of exciting projects. For example, they are now working in a town called Dwight on a roughly 210-lot subdivision project. The client there is Infinity Fine Homes, owned by Paul Barber. Larry estimates that he and Paul have personally been working together for “at least 25 years, but probably closer to 30 years now.” “We’ve done a lot of sites together,” Larry says. “He’s been very good to me. So we’ve now got 20 people working up there on that development – and I’ve made it a point to be there personally, because the client really wanted my expertise. We probably have another three years to go there before it’s finished.” Moving forward, Larry says that job will be keeping a good percentage of their staff busy for a while, so they are not necessarily looking to take on anything else of that scale in the near future. In the longer-term future, however, he believes there’s room to grow –provided that’s what the next generation is interested in. Personally, Larry intends to take a step back in the next few years, and he has two daughters – and two sons-in-law – who are set to step forward. “We’ll have to see what their thoughts are,” Larry concludes. “They’ll choose our next direction. And if they want to take on some larger jobs, we’re positioned well to do that. We’ve got the capabilities and the depth. We’re set up well for the future.” JUNE 2023
