Also like CMB, they have invested heavily in technology and innovation in order to be as efficient and reliable as possible. Justin credits the strength and longevity of that relationship – and the strength and longevity of all of CMB’s relationships, with all of their stakeholders – to the values they share: “Our mission is ‘building better buildings, building better lives,’” he says. “We truly believe in that, and so do the people we work with. That goes for our employees, our customers, our vendors, and our subs. They have to share our values, or we don’t do business with them. That’s the culture we promote.” Moving forward, Justin says that CMB will continue to promote and foster that culture, even as the company grows – and CMB is growing, he says, largely as a result of their investment in technology. “We’ve recently acquired some heavily automated equipment, we’ve made some very big capital expenditures on some top-of-the-line equipment,” he explains. “So we’re going to add even more efficiency to our manufacturing.” That doesn’t mean eliminating jobs, Justin is quick to clarify. In fact, he says they are going to be adding jobs, just different kinds of jobs, jobs that are maybe more suitable for the calibre of their employees: “We’re investing in automating our processes,” he says. “Yes, that’s going to drive efficiency and increase capacity, but it’s also going to allow our employees to grow and learn.
