I do a lot of wall removals and beam installs – things that drastically change the look of a house. That’s what I love. I love being challenged and being pushed. I love having to do the research and figure out how to do something and who I need to talk to do it properly.” Currently, Phoenix Projects takes on a wide variety of projects in terms of size and scale, but even their smaller ones tend to stand-out – for example, last year they did a deck that was made entirely of KAYU® Batu hardwood. Last year, on the larger side, the company also completed a gutand-remodel of an entire home. “We do a wide variety,” Cam explains. “We do small jobs where we’re in and out in a couple days, and we’ll do jobs that take six or eight months. No matter the scope, however, every project that Phoenix takes on is unique, and delivered to the same high quality standards. According to Cam, that consistency is why clients typically come to him: “A lot of it comes down to the pride that I take in my work,” he says. “I’ve personally learned over the years that I’m more project-based than profitbased. When a client comes to me with a project, I get excited. I want to see that transformation happen, and I take a lot of pride in how well the project is finished and how good it looks in the end.” JULY 2023
