“From my own personal standpoint, I’d like to expand our knowledge base to be able to work on unique home designs and including interesting technology such as net-zero ready homes and passive homes. There is a demand for that, but even more so as we get more energy conscious as a society, there’s going to be more and more demand for these types of homes. They’re built in such an energy efficient way. That’s a future goal for sure. It’s not here overnight because in a lot of ways customers aren’t quite ready for that either. It’s kind of a bit of a balancing act until there’s a higher demand.” He says he has a focus on sustainability because he sees a need for it. “There is just such a push in society for it. There is a massive need there.” “If we can reduce our footprint and our need and make houses more efficient, why not? It just makes sense. One of the challenges that I see in that currently is there has to be a return on investment. Right now, bringing those energy efficient technologies in is more expensive. But if we can increase the demand for that, then the cost for that is going to reduce.” DECEMBER 2023
