As part of that mission, Pacific Flo invests heavily in the training of apprentices. That investment has paid off: “We’re proud to say that not a single one of our apprentices has ever failed an exam, a test, or a year in school,” Giordano says. “We take great pride in that, because we really care. We never want to see any of our apprentices fail because they haven’t been given the proper support. The fact that they all have done exceptionally well goes to show how much we train them and how much we cover within our trade.” When it comes to their up-and-coming team members, Diego says it’s also important that they play to their strengths and give them confidence: “In past roles, I’ve seen some guys who were almost set up to fail,” he explains. “They were given jobs that exceeded their capabilities and they weren’t given the proper support. We don’t want to do that here. We want to cater to our people’s strengths and instill confidence in them. We’ve seen that when they have that confidence, their capabilities are going to grow and they’re going to be able to flourish.” DECEMBER 2023
