over a decade. “Having been in business for 15 years, we’ve developed really great relationships with a lot of incredible subcontractors and suppliers. If we find a supplier we like, we stick with them.” The suppliers that last, Maia explains, are the suppliers who share their values: “Our suppliers are really the face of Wilkar on-site,” she says. “They have to act professionally, they have to provide good quality service, and they have to do good quality work. Fortunately, we’ve developed some relationships with some great partners who conduct themselves the right way and who do a great job.” Wilkar has also developed a lot of great relationships in-house, with their own employees. According to Maia, the vast majority of their senior employees have been with the company for over seven years. That’s unusual for their industry, she says, because “property management can be a high-stress environment with a lot of turnover.” She believes Wilkar has done better than most because of their culture of positivity and the extra support they give employees. For example, they give employees wellness days and they support a mixture of remote work and work from the office. Moving forward, Wilkar’s goal is to maintain their close relationships with all their stakeholders – with their customers, their suppliers, and their employees alike.
