A world class facility The centerpiece of the newand-improved Culture + Entertainment District will be the long-awaited expansion of the BMO Centre. Since 1982, that facility has proudly served as Calgary’s premier venue for consumer and trade shows, special events, meetings, and conferences, and it is now undergoing its most extensive renovation ever. Valued at $500 million – and supported through equal contributions from the Government of Canada, the Government of Alberta, and the City of Calgary – this expansion will increase the BMO Centre’s total floor space to over one million square feet, more than doubling its rentable area. CMLC, in its role as Development Manager, is working in partnership with Calgary Stampede to realize the vision for the expanded facility. “When complete, it will be the largest such facility in western Canada,” Clare says, “and it will give Calgary a toptier destination status in the DECEMBER 2022
