The Construction Source

JULY 2026 “He contacted us because he was happy with the work we had done previously,” David says. “That means a lot to us. That’s pretty much the best review we can get.” Since that initial point of contact, the scope of that Mississauga has evolved considerably. What began as a plan for a pool and back patio expanded to include a masonry fireplace, a cabana, a water feature, masonry pillars at the front entrance, stairs to the backyard and down to a walkout basement, window wells, fencing, gates, and a golf green. The driveway – which was laid in an elaborate herringbone pattern using high-end pavers – was among the last major elements. “The project turned out fantastic,” David says. “Everything turned out so well. We’re all really proud of what we achieved there.” The project serves as a strong demonstration of the full Davel offering – a single property where masonry, hardscaping, softscaping, drainage, carpentry, structural framing, and outdoor living features all converge. It is also a testament to the kind of longterm client relationships that Davel strives to form – because the client trusted David much, the scope was able to evolve organically and the client was able to achieve everything they wanted and more. Moving forward, David’s vision for Davel Construction is shaped by the same values that have guided the company from the start – including quality over volume. David has no ambitions to build a large operation. His goal is to instead add perhaps another small crew – two or three additional people – without fundamentally changing how the company operates. “I feel like I’m able to control the quality a lot better by not expanding and becoming too big,” David explains. “The more people you have, the more you have to manage. I don’t want to get too ahead of myself.” Rather than becoming a bigger company, David says the goal is to do larger and more complex projects – more of the large, elaborate, all-encompassing transformations like that South Mississauga project, and fewer of the smaller fill-in jobs that have helped keep the business going in the early years. The foundation is there. The skill set is proven. The next chapter, as David sees it, is simply doing more of what Davel does best. “My vision is to grow the company in terms of the projects we’re doing,” he says. “More of these full-scale projects, and less of the smaller ones. That’s where we want to be.”
