The Construction Source

a wide spectrum of residential and commercial construction – from total home rebuilds and custom new builds to additions, restorations, and leasehold improvements. Projects on the smaller end of their range start around $250,000 to $300,000, while larger commissions can exceed $3 million. The average project falls in the $500,000 to $600,000 range. The company has also become an experienced and sought-after design partner. In recent years, they have provided design and consulting services for major undertakings, including a $6 million project for Ecclesiastical Insurance, in which they served as a third-party design and oversight authority throughout the build. Reaching new clients is something Habermehl Contracting approaches from multiple angles. They advertise through Google and social media, and participate in home shows each spring and fall to connect with the public. They also maintain dedicated staff relationships with designers and corporate clients throughout the city. But the most important source of new business, Dwight explains, is the one that can’t be bought. “We get a lot of referrals – a lot of our clients’ friends and neighbours come to ask us to build for them because of work we’ve already done.” According to Dwight, Habermehl Contracting invests a lot of time and effort into earning that loyalty. The process begins from the moment a potential client first reaches out. Rather than immediately moving into specifications and costs, Dwight says the priority is something more personal. JULY 2026
