Habermehl Contracting Ltd. is a general contracting and custom home building company based in Bedford, Nova Scotia. For more than 60 years and two generations, the Habermehl family has been designing, renovating, and building beautiful homes for happy clients. Throughout their history in construction, their name has been synonymous with quality and integrity. These days, they are a family known not only for providing quality craftsmanship, but for being honest and transparent along the way, and for delivering clients both a product and experience that exceeds their expectations. “Our goal is to lead clients from their dreams all the way to a beautiful, completed reality,” says Dwight Habermehl, the company’s president. “We make it our highest aim to take the complexity, pressure, and time consumption out of the renovation process so that clients can focus on other life demands while we go to work.” The original iteration of Habermehl Contracting was founded in 1963 by Gordon Hebermehl, Dwight’s father. The company began in the Muskoka region of Ontario, where Dwight grew up and started his career working alongside his father and his older brothers. Later in life, Dwight and his wife visited Bedford, Nova Scotia on holiday and fell in love with the region. They ended up moving and starting a new East Coast version of the company in 2001. In the years 25 years since, they have been designing, building, and renovating homes with the same old-fashioned values and excellence that powered the original company.
