cold calling, a lot of knocking on doors, and Luc says “we just wedged our way into the market.” And whenever they won a job, they made sure to execute it to the very best of their ability. “The way I looked at it was that I didn’t have real tangible control over where the business was going to float or sink,” Luc recalls. “But the one thing that I could control was my effort. Every single job that came our way, I could give 110 per cent effort from A-to-Z – I could deliver the best product, the best installation, and the best service I possibly could. And if the business didn’t work out after that, I would have no reason to hang my head.” Over the years, that mindset has consistently propelled LuMar Electric to success and growth, and kept their employees working even during market slowdowns. These days, LuMar Electric has multiple departments, and between those departments they are capable of handling projects of virtually any size. Their service and maintenance team, for example, handles small jobs and rapid-response calls, from repairing outlets to supporting renovations and warranty work. Their residential division focuses on custom homes, semidetached builds, row housing, and smaller multiunit projects. Their commercial division manages larger multi-family developments along with office buildings, warehouses, car dealerships, and institutional work, including hospital and school projects.
