LuMar Electric is an electrical contracting company that has grown from two people in a 15-by-20 garage into a company with over 120 employees, multiple departments, and multiple offices across New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island. They now offer clients a full range of residential, commercial, and industrial electrical services, everything from emergency repairs to new construction. Between their expansive staff and their many divisions, they are well-equipped with the skill and experience to complete delivery of every project on time, on budget, and to the highest quality standards. Luc Chiasson and Mario Leblanc, the company’s founders, are cousins who grew up together and have a lot in common. They both entered the electrical trade early, following in the footsteps of Luc’s father, an experienced electrician. After high school, they both entered into apprenticeships and separately earned experience out west before returning home on the East Coast to start their own businesses. In 2011, they decided to combine their efforts – and blend their names – and form LuMar Electric. From the start, Mario says their shared vision for the company was ambitious: “Before we even knew what we were doing, we knew we wanted to build a large electrical company,” he says. “We wanted to build something big and long-lasting. We wanted to build the largest electrical company in Moncton. We wanted to build something multi-generational.” When they started, Luc says they had “more drive than knowledge.” They had a lot of electrical expertise, but they didn’t know much about business, so they decided to make up for that gap with hustle and hard work.
