Over the last couple years, Tooketree has also been recognized as a certified social enterprise by Buy Social Canada, and they received industry accolades, including an ‘Innovation and Industry Award’ at the 2024 Ontario Embodied Carbon Awards, hosted by the Carbon Leadership Forum (CLF). Foresight Canada, a cleantech accelerator that launches, commercializes and scales climate solutions across Canada, also named Tooketree Passive Homes to their Foresight 50 list. That list recognizes Canada’s most investible cleantech ventures helping to drive the transition to a green economy. “So a lot of exciting things have been happening,” Melinda says. “It’s an exciting space to be in.” These days, Tooketree’s main focus is the multiunit sector, which is where the company feels like they can make the greatest impact. They still take orders for custom homes – “those shorter, smaller projects can fit in nicely between larger projects,” Melinda explains – but their main clients are now developers, municipalities, and not-for-profits. Across those client types, Melinda says the reception to their products has been extremely positive. “Once we’ve had a chance to work with a builder and developer on a project, they’re sold,” she says. “The builders and developers that we’ve worked
