sub-trades,” Darren says. “They bring handson experience and knowledge to the table that engineers and designers just can’t replicate without time in the field – it’s the combination of field and office professionals working together that reaps the best project and the best rewards.” Internally, RBW Consulting operates as a tightly integrated team. Although the company has intentionally downsized over the years – from a peak of 17 employees to a current staff of seven – it continues to manage mid-sized, complex projects by involving team members at every stage. From bid reviews and quantity takeoffs to on-site layout and installation, team members are encouraged to understand both the office and field sides of construction. For Darren, that balance is one of the most rewarding aspects of the job. “I really love being able to do both field and office and be a participant in both,” he says. “There’s nothing worse than doing something twice or three times.” By keeping leadership directly involved in dayto-day construction activities, RBW Consulting reinforces a culture of accountability, learning, and continuous improvement. Looking ahead, RBW Consulting is not chasing growth for growth’s sake. Having refined their size and focus, the company intends to remain agile, responsive, and deeply involved in the kinds of projects that require creativity and technical expertise. As accessibility upgrades, adaptive reuse, and renovation projects continue to grow in demand, RBW Consulting is well positioned to help owners navigate the challenges that come with building smarter – not just bigger.
