For Tim Streek, construction has never been just about buildings. It has always been about people, responsibility, and following through on what you commit to do. That mindset – shaped early by hands-on work, strengthened through decades of military service, and refined through years in construction – now defines TSH Custom Homes, a custom homebuilder based in Ottawa and serving a broad stretch of Eastern Ontario. TSH Custom Homes was officially incorporated in 2016, but the foundation of the company was laid years earlier. The firm’s work in the multi-residential space dates back to 2012, long before the brand formally took shape. That gradual evolution mirrors Tim’s own path into construction. Growing up, he spent countless hours in his father’s cabinet shop. His father ran a custom kitchen cabinet business, and both Tim and his brother were immersed in the trade from a young age. Showing up to the shop and working with their hands wasn’t optional – it was part of daily life. That early exposure instilled a respect for craftsmanship, problem-solving, and the value of hard work, even on days when the work itself wasn’t particularly enjoyable. “At that age, you’re not thinking about business,” Tim recalls. “But you absolutely learn the value of hard work and thinking through how things are built.” Those early lessons stuck. While Tim and his brother ultimately pursued different paths, both remained rooted in construction-related fields. For Tim, that foundation was later complemented by a 21-year career in the Canadian Armed Forces, where he served as a helicopter pilot and spent much of his time in Special Operations.
