Since forming in 1983 in founder Robert E. Rimkus’ home in Houston, Texas, they have evolved from a one-man operation into one of the premier engineering and technical consulting companies on the globe. In recent years, in particular, they have steadily expanded geographically, including internationally, while consistently adding new services requested by clients. In 2020, as part of their strategy to grow internationally, Rimkus acquired IRC Building Sciences Group – one of Canada’s foremost consulting firms, and an industry leader in the assessment, design, remediation and evaluation of roofing, building envelope, structural, and pavement systems. With that strategic acquisition, Rimkus greatly expanded their service offering and geographic footprint in Canada, and they cemented themselves as a top choice for current and future customers in the country. In the years since the acquisition, IRC’s offices across the country have continued to expand and evolve under Rimkus’ banner. Their office in British Columbia, for example, has grown significantly in the past six years, and is forecasted to grow a lot more. Ana Gutierrez, district manager, has seen a lot of that growth first-hand. Ana’s personal experience with complex building rehabilitation extends well beyond her leadership role today.
