The strength of those relationships is reflected in their rate of referrals – according to Lester, that’s how they generate the vast majority of their work. Imagine also forms close-knit relationships with their building partners. On larger commercial projects in particular, the firm values the opportunity to collaborate closely with general contractors, bringing both the creative and technical sides of a project into alignment early. New builder relationships tend to develop organically – often a contractor comes to Imagine because their usual designer lacks 3D rendering capability, and once they experience Imagine’s process firsthand, they keep coming back. “Once we show them what we can do and take them through the whole process, they usually end up really liking it,” Lester says. “A lot of our new builder clients, after working with us one time, tell us ‘next time we’re just coming straight to you.’” Imagine’s ability to connect with builders is actually what led to their current flagship project – the aforementioned 120,000-square-foot tractor dealership.
