THE CONSTRUCTION SOURCE CANADA Building a bridge Woven Quarter’s first project, called The Bridge, is a three-storey walk-up apartment in Hamilton. The site was downtown, close to amenities, in a neighbourhood that was beginning to gentrify and priced at a level that made a new development financially viable. The proximity to healthcare, a future LRT line, restaurants, and cultural venues made it exactly the kind of location Brendan had in mind when he set out to do urban infill work. “We wanted to reinvigorate neighbourhoods,” he says. “Draw people into an urban environment.” To shape the design, Brendan and John retained RAW Design, a Toronto-based firm with a specialization in smaller urban infill projects.
