Matthieu estimates he gets roughly 50-60 bookings per year, and he says the reviews are glowing. “People like the accessibility,” he says. “Most buildings in the short-term rental market aren’t wheelchair accessible, and this one is, so I get a lot of customers that are in wheelchairs and they really enjoy the home. They’ve also given me some great feedback that has helped me improve the house and make it even more accessible.” The home has also earned acclaim from Matthieu’s peers in the industry. Most notably, at the 2025 Greater Ottawa Home Builders’ Association (GOHBA) Housing Design Awards, the home won ‘Custom Home of the Year’ as well as the ‘Innovation Award: Towards Net Zero Project.’ Matthieu says those accolades were very meaningful, and the process of applying for them made him realize that MBHE was ahead of the curve. “When I was filling out the form describing all the features of the home, I realized that not a lot of builders were putting in this kind of technology,” he says. “I don’t think a lot of builders innovate like we do. Hopefully that will change and the industry will catch up, but in the meantime I feel like we’re leading the market.”
