As previously mentioned, that number has grown closer to 45 in the nine years since. In that time, the firm has also diversified the work they take on. They started off mainly doing condominiums – within the “condo world” in Toronto, Roland is personally a well-recognized expert with a longstanding reputation and a lot of valuable contacts. As that sector has cooled, however, the firm has recently pivoted to doing rental and affordable housing. Additionally, they now do a lot of retrofits, public art installations, and institutional work – for example, they recently completed a large cultural centre with a heritage component in Aurora. In recent years, RAW Design’s evolution has also involved moving premises. A few years back, they purchased what used to be an automotive repair shop on Geary Avenue, and they have since converted that shop into their new office space. They moved in recently, and Adrienne reports that “we are really happy to be here.” “It’s a really cool street and a really close-knit community,” she says. “There are a lot of interesting artists and studios and restaurants and cultural spaces. It’s a really great vibe for us.”
