While bucket trucks dominate modern line work, his team continues to train in old-school methods like climbing poles with belt and spurs – skills that are critical in rough terrain and backcountry jobs. Coupled with a strategic alliance with their son and daughter-in-law’s company, Graham RDE, who purchased Mark and Tammy’s specialized equipment for civil work including rock drills for challenging landscapes as well as Barges for island work, Uens has built a reputation for tackling projects others can’t or won’t. “We’ve been known for rough country,” Mark explains, noting that his team embraces these demanding conditions with confidence. This dedication ensures that even the most difficult installations and emergency repairs are completed safely, efficiently, and reliably. Additionally, Mark believes that the company is set apart by the strength of their client relationships. According to Mark, 95 per cent of the company’s work still comes from word of mouth and reputation – though he also recognizes that times are changing.
