The Construction Source

years ago just for the sake of preparing for the future. Rosenort wasn’t quite ready to grow then, but they saw the future need. They saw more housing would be needed and they wanted to be ready for when folks came around asking ‘Hey, do you have room for us to move in?’” In order to support that future growth, the RM has also invested significantly in infrastructure improvements. Most notably, in Rosenort, the municipality recently undertook upgrades to their lift station, lagoon, and potable water storage station. “That’s an example of council looking forward,” Wes says. “There are some municipalities in Manitoba where building has completely stalled because they don’t have the capacity more homes in their lagoons or they can’t supply enough water. We wanted to make sure that we were ahead of the curve. We decided let’s fill the need before it really becomes a big need.” On that recent project, the RM partnered with the province of Manitoba, who partly funded the project and “did a lot of the grunt work” in terms of soliciting and accepting tenders from contractors. With the province’s help, they completed a significant upgrade of their lift station, as well as a large expansion of their wastewater treatment lagoon system in order to improve resilience during high-demand periods or power interruptions. The lagoon expansion was completed last fall and the lift station upgrade was completed this year. According to Wes, the RM is very pleased with the result. “It’s a wonderful upgrade from what we used to have,” he says. OCTOBER 2025
