As an AIA member and a California licensed architect, Vito Picicci is volunteering as a member of the AIA|LA Wildfire Disaster Response Task Force, providing his insights and expertise to support the recovery and rebuilding efforts of wildfire affected areas with focus in the Malibu and Pacific Palisades areas. “Responding to such tragedies with structures that can withstand 250 miles per hour winds while being water, flood, and fire-resistant is key. We are partnering with construction specialists in this area to deliver new and replacement homes that are disaster resistant” says Picicci. The size of SAI’s projects reflects their expertise in hotel development. “Working with major brands such as Marriott, Hilton, and IHG, we have seen an increase in the size of our hotel projects over the past several years”, says Picicci, “where they have grown from 5-7 storey mid-rise buildings to 12-15 storey high buildings with smaller floor plates, as a way of green-lighting them from a financial justification perspective that takes into account the high cost of land and construction.
