“That’s not a guarantee that a lot of other companies can give,” he adds. “But when clients come to us, they feel very confident that’s what they’re going to get.” Over the years, that confidence has translated into a steady stream of repeat work. According to Kallem, they have relationships with some clients that go back decades. They also get a lot of work from referrals and word of mouth or simply as a result of their reputation. Ryan says they recently were asked to help with a complete gut of 30-unit apartment building by a client they had never spoken to before – “and they asked us because they know we have a good reputation.” “Everyone knows A&B,” he reiterates. “Everyone knows they can rely on A&B. That’s how we get a lot of our work in the first place, and that’s why we get a lot of repeat work from clients.” A&B Mechanical’s relationships with employees tend to be similarly loyal and longstanding. When it comes to the company’s journeymen, for example, Kallem estimates that 90 per cent have been with the company for over 12 years. As a result, he says “everybody here knows their role, and they know what they need to do to be successful.” He describes their culture as “like a family”, in fact, this summer two of their employees got married to each other! And he says that familiarity and comfort leads to a higher quality of work. Moving forward, Ryan, Kallem and Andrew’s vision for A&B Mechanical is to grow and maintain THE CONSTRUCTION SOURCE CANADA
