the city wanted to preserve, including a distinctive rounded wall with a chipped-stone façade around the elevator entrance. A standard modernization would have required significant demolition and rebuilding of that wall, but Jeff and his team devised a custom solution. Instead, CEE replaced all the mechanical and electrical components inside the elevator shaft while leaving the outer structure untouched. “Everything inside is brand new,” Jeff says, “but from the outside, it looks like it’s always been there. We kept the charm and character of the building intact.” The project was originally slated for 14 to 15 weeks, but CEE completed it in less than 10 – without overtime and without cutting corners. “It was all about coordination,” Jeff says. “We lined up every subtrade efficiently. When everyone works together like that, it’s amazing how fast things move.” Beyond technical ability, what truly sets CEE apart is their personal approach to business, and their aforementioned focus on relationships. When it comes to customers, for example, the company prefers meeting face to face, building trust through conversation and collaboration rather than through a marketing pitch. “We’re a very hands-on company,” Jeff explains. “We don’t rely on big social media pushes or fancy advertising. We get our work through relationships, through people who know what we can do and how we work.” That same philosophy extends to CEE’s relationships with subcontractors and suppliers.
