in the community whenever possible.” Many of the subtrades they used were also local, including Mitchell n Motion Plumbing & Heating and G&R Electric. A local greenhouse also designed the landscaping out front, which now includes a beautiful pollinator garden. Meghan emphasizes that the outcome is an “amazing building,” and adds that working there has been an equally rewarding experience. “In the old office, we were on top of each other a little bit,” she says. “Now we have so much space – we’re not tripping over each other, we have lots of room for storage, lots of file space, and everyone has their own workspace. People who used to operate out of the basement of the old building now have nice offices.” “In addition, we now have that beautiful boardroom, where we not only have our internal management meetings, but we also rent it to community groups. So we’re providing an additional service to the community. It’s been wonderful.” Miscellaneously, something wonderful also happened during the construction process. There was an exterior limestone rock with an engraving of the number ‘1969’, which was the year the building was first built. The municipality requested that the contractors delicately remove that rock, because they wanted to place it somewhere in the newly renovated space. Upon the rock’s removal, they ended up discovering a time capsule with a secret stash of artifacts from that year. “It was really neat, we were excited that they found that,” Meghan recalls. “They were really thinking ahead back then.” The recovered items included a voters list and pictures of Council members from both the Town of Killarney, and the Turtle Mountain Municipality, as the two had not amalgamated yet. There were also several copies of the Killarney Guide, a centennial Canadian dollar bill, a rendered drawing of the newly built 1969 municipal building, plus as a photo of the original Killarney Town Hall. Those items have since been mounted and framed within the new office space. https://meet.itadvisors.ca Book your free 15 minute strategy call today at: www.ITAdvisors.ca 204-717-4365 Cyber Security Business Risk Assessments Training and Reporting Fully Managed IT Support NOVEMBER 2025
