MAY 2025 “So we’re well booked for the year,” John says. “We’ve actually to do a lot of pricing into next year already.” Though Wolf Homes definitely has the room and opportunity to get bigger as a company, John says they are very cautious about growing. He and Lisa have two kids, both under three, and they want to make sure they want to make sure they can keep their work-life balance healthy. They also want to ensure their quality never suffers. “Could we do more? Definitely,” John says. “But could we do it while maintaining this same level of quality? I’m not sure.” “So that makes it tough,” he adds. “Quality is not something I’m willing to compromise. In order to grow, we’d have to find people to put in the proper positions. Other people would have to help me manage the projects.” “That’s something I’m more willing to experiment with on our spec homes,” John says. “I think our spec homes could make a good training ground for managers, because there’s no client to deal with. If something isn’t up to our standards, we could redo it as many times as it takes to get right, without having a client out there looking at us. I could use those spec homes to bring managers up to our standards, and then when they’re ready, I could have them do a custom and deal with a client – but only when they’re ready.”
