conflict, John says they can always just prioritize their custom homes, so they never have to keep clients waiting. “Because we do a balance of spec homes and custom homes, we can give our custom clients the best possible price and work with their best interests in mind,” John explains. “We never have to have an ulterior motive. We don’t have to try to make our money on variations.” When it comes to custom clients, Wolf Homes also strives to give the best possible service. Though John doesn’t have a background in the industry, he did a lot of research and talked a lot of successful builders and got some good advice. One piece of advice he often refers to is ‘Never go the client with an issue.’ “Of course, there are always going to be issues,” John explains. “On no project will everything go right. But what this builder told me is to never go to the client just to tell them you have an issue – always make sure you have two solutions for that issue. That way the client doesn’t go home stressed out and thinking their dream isn’t going to be fulfilled. If there’s an issue but we present them with two solutions, that gives them reassurance that we know what we’re doing and we’re working in their best interest.” By putting that advice into practice, Wolf Homes has been able to build some extremely strong relationships with clients, which has consistently led to word of mouth and referrals.
