30x50 pole barn, which was an important step in their evolution as a company. “We started with that, and as time went on, we got busier and began taking on larger projects, all thanks to word of mouth,” Joel says. This gradual but steady growth is reflective of the company’s dedication to delivering quality work while maintaining a focus on their customers’ needs. Today, CDN Buildings’ projects range in size from small structures to massive, multi-purpose buildings. The company serves a variety of sectors, including residential, commercial, and agricultural markets, providing clients with steel buildings for diverse needs. While they still cater to smaller projects, CDN Buildings has built a solid reputation for tackling large-scale ventures. For example, in recent years, the company has completed major projects such as a large warehouse for Sherwin Williams in Fort Erie, Ontario, and a unique building for Long Point EcoAdventures Resort & Retreat Centre. The latter project, a combination of a brewery, restaurant, office space, and warehouse, highlights CDN Buildings’ ability to tackle complex and multifaceted designs. Another notable project was the construction of an airport terminal on Amelia Island, Florida, which is perhaps one of the most unique and eye-catching projects in CDN Buildings’ history. In 2018, the company was tasked with building a hangar in the shape of a World War II aircraft, specifically a Corsair F4U. This ambitious design was part of a project for a former military airport on Amelia Island, where the architects wanted the hangar to reflect the area’s historical significance. Joel explains how the idea came to fruition: “We have a sister company, US Buildings, and they were awarded the project for Amelia Island. The architects wanted to create a unique hangar in the shape of a World War II aircraft to keep it connected to the historical roots of the site. It was a pretty big project, and we were tasked with designing and constructing the building nose and tail sections. That project stands as a testament to CDN Buildings’ ability to handle intricate and innovative designs, offering a one-of-a-kind service to clients with bold visions. MARCH 2025
