MARCH 2025 says too much of that cost burden has fallen on residents, and the council wants to change that. “There’s a lot of maintenance that has to happen, and that can be hard on residents,” Murray says. “So we want to spread that cost around to our commercial businesses and to our agricultural land to help offset those costs.” “The growth that we want to see is we want to see more recreational activities for the people here,” he continues. “We want to ensure our infrastructure is maintained and enhanced. We want to see water available to everybody. And we definitely want to see enhance our Internet in those very rural areas so that those areas can compete with our urban neighbours.” Joe reiterates that they have a few big projects on the way that he believes will make a big difference on the economic outlook of the county. He says they are going “all in” on those projects, as they understand they can’t take that interest for granted. “We don’t get a whole a lot of interest all the time from businesses who want to come into the bottom corner of the province. We get a lot of recreational interest, but not a lot of commercial or industrial-type interest. And so when we do have individuals that are showing interest in doing these major projects within the county, we try everything we can to support them 100 per cent. We do whatever we can to help and see these projects through.”
