THE CONSTRUCTION SOURCE CANADA and have backgrounds in the cattle and feedlot industry, and together they came up with the idea of make livestock lick tubs from a mixture of minerals and molasses, using zero toxic chemicals. To help realize their vision, Cardston County sold the two of them some land that the county owned and helped them develop a production facility. Since that facility opened in 2021, Boss Feeds has become leading name in North America’s mineral lick tub industry and developed a fast-growing network of dealers across Canada and the United States. Cardston County is also in the midst of working with a developer who lives in in the area and really loves it. His plans are pretty ambitious and exciting. He’s already purchased a large amount of land, and the county is working with him to obtain provincial government approval for a power plant. From there, the goal is to develop a data center just south of the Town of Cardston – a project that could be valued as high as $600 million. “That would be massive for us,” Joe says. “And not only does he want to build a data center, he also has a plan to do an indoor football stadium on top of the data center and utilize all the heat that he has from doing the data center into heating the building and heating the parking lots.” In collaboration with committed partners like that, Murray says the goal for Cardston County is to continue growing and attracting new business and new development.
