MARCH 2025 a brand-new facility in Ajax, which comprises 90,000 square feet of factory space, with 40-foot ceilings and multiple bays. As of November 2024, they were producing upwards of 10,000 square feet of panels per week, and they were not yet at max capacity. “We needed to up the pace of our business and keep up with the demand from our clients,” he explains. “So, we moved into a new facility. That’s allowed us to basically double our capacity from previously 250,000 square feet of panels per year to about 500,000 square feet of panels per year. It’s allowing us to scale and really keep up with the growth of the industry.” Moving forward, Royston says there is still lots of room and opportunity to grow, and Skyrise intends to seize that opportunity. “We always want to grow,” he says. “We believe that prefabrication is still in an immature state in the world of construction. So, we still have to get to a more advanced state of acceptance of prefabrication.” “Our vision over the next five years is to be the leading player in the prefab space,” he adds. “We want to be known as a company that provides high quality, eco-conscious solutions that reshapes people’s thinking about how buildings are constructed. And we want to expand our capabilities and become trusted partners on some the more notable, pronounced projects here in Toronto.” Lastly, Royston says that Skyrise will continue to honour their parent company with their work and with their conduct as a business. He explains that STO’s motto is “building with conscience” – meaning they strive to build buildings that last, to use the right materials, and to bring projects to life with aesthetics, functionality, and sustainability all top-of-mind. Royston says that Skyrise shares those same values, and their goal is to reflect those values in everything they do. Hopefully, in the process, they can encourage others in the industry to think the same way. “We want to build with a conscience and be a sustainable building company,” Royston concludes. “We want to be an example for our clients and our competitors. We want to do our part to create a better building industry.”
