Jake says. “That’s how we’ve got to where we are now.” Currently, Atlas Automation employs a team of roughly 20 people – though by the end of the year, Jake expects that number to grow to somewhere between 25 and 30. They work primarily in Alberta, Nunavut and the Northwest Territories, though they have also done jobs in Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Their projects run the gamut of typologies, and include schools, hotels, airports, office buildings, water and wastewater infrastructure, and more. One of the company’s biggest projects to date was the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge in Jasper, Alberta. That project was a campus-style hotel with over 200 cabins on a 2.8-square-kilometre site. Jake and his team were responsible for automating the HVAC systems in those cabins. Jake believes Atlas Automation was selected for that project due to their varied experience in construction, particularly their experience in electrical contracting and mechanical contracting. Jake says that not many controls contractors have that experience, and that typically makes them hesitant to take on projects of that size and scope. Atlas Automation doesn’t have that hesitation. “I think that’s a large differentiator for us,” Jake says. “Because of our experience, we’re able to manage different scopes and keep a high level, really tight project management workflow together. I don’t think that that’s something that’s offered from a lot of our competitors.” Atlas Automation also possesses “logistical capabilities that, I think, are superior to a lot of our competitors,” Jake adds. As evidence, he cites the logistically challenging sites they have worked THE CONSTRUCTION SOURCE CANADA
