Steve adds, “In a valley of 30,000 people, you either build partnerships or you stall.” Early in their history, ACS partnered with Rocky Mountain Soap Company, building two flagship retail stores in Banff and Canmore and upgrading its Canmore production facility. “We literally grew up together,” Steve reflects on that decade-long relationship. More recently, the team completed a high-profile millwork-intensive renovation of the lobby and restaurant at the MTN House by Basecamp in Canmore under extremely tight schedules. “It was one of our proudest millwork showcases,” Daena says, pointing to custom timber ceilings and inlaid stone reception desks that echo the hotel’s location. This specific project was recently awarded in May 2025, an Award of Excellence by the Architectural Woodwork Manufacturers Association of Canada (AWMAC). In a socially driven bid, ACS won the contract for an 18-unit affordable housing complex for the Canmore Community Housing Corporation (CCHC). “That one is close to my heart,” Steve says, as he served five years on the CCHC’s board. Furthermore, ACS recently built a distillery facility for Wild Life Distillery. The clients on that project were local entrepreneurs who invested $1 million in their expansion.
