JUNE 2025 It takes a village Over the years, Brian Gardner Custom Homes has completed a long list of homes and accumulated a long list of satisfied clients. Brian says he’s proud of every home the company has delivered, but one project definitively stands out in his mind as the closest to his heart. That project, called Kirsten’s Place, is a domestic violence shelter within the Town of Olds. It’s named in homage of Kirsten O’Donoghue, Brian’s daughter and a victim of a domestic violence incident in 2021. That facility is operated by the Mountain View Emergency Shelter Society (MVESS), a local non-profit organization whose mission is to provide support and services to victims of family violence. The society has existed for about 14 years, but until recently had no facility to directly provide shelter.
