The nominations for those awards come from customers or peers in the business community, the finalists are determined by judges based on strict criteria, and the winners are chosen after in-person interviews by judges. Jeff believes that Kays Contracting’s victory was a testament to the talent and dedication of their team. “It all comes back to the employees,” he says. “Delivering a high quality of work and a high quality of service is fully a team effort. You can be at the top and crack the whip all you want – but if the team isn’t buying in, then it’s going to be a struggle.” “So, our success comes down to our teamwork,” he adds, “and we have an excellent team of employees working with us. That’s what the award proved to Matt and I. It was recognition of the team we’ve been able to build here and the product that they’ve been delivering.” When it comes to the company’s subcontractors and suppliers, Jeff says a lot of the same applies – they strive to do business with people and companies of high character and similar values.
