THE CONSTRUCTION SOURCE CANADA “A project like that is not something you can just start thinking about when you land it and then hope for the best,” he says. “A project like takes months and months of pre-planning and organization, and it’s been great going through that process with Arctic Fresh. We have very similar visions.” Vince is also proud of their work there due to the social impact the project – a 24-bed trauma and addictions treatment centre that will accept people from all over Nunavut – is poised to make. “We really wanted to be a part of that project,” Vince says. “It’s an important project, it’s a provincially-focused project, it’s going to support people across Nunavut, and we just really wanted to be involved so we could make sure it was done right.” That project is not completed yet – the goal is to turn it over by the end of the year – but Vince says it’s progressing well. “It’s been very successful,” he says. “On any project there are going to be hurdles and roadblocks and complications, but the project team has been great. Arctic Fresh has been doing a great job leading the way, and they seem very happy. On our end, we’re very happy. And I think the client is happy as well.” Moving forward, Natik Projects’ goal is to do more socially-impactful projects like that one. They like being involved in projects that focus on “Inuit voices,” and that reflect “what the Inuit people themselves want from their land.” They also want to do even difficult and complex projects, as Vince says that’s where their company can provide the
