the value we bring to our clients. Here in the north we have such short shipping periods and such extreme winter conditions, but we have the ability to navigate and triage different critical paths and figure out as a team how we can get the project done effectively within the short window we have. That’s another big part of why we’re successful.” That success is reflected in the company’s rate of repeat business. According to Vince, “almost all” of their clients go back multiple decades. Even the clients he describes as “new” they have been working with for five-to-10 years. That’s because the Canadian Arctic is a hard market for contractors to enter and be successful. Vince says the majority of outside contractors who do test the market don’t tend to stick around – but the contractors that do stick around tend to form long-lasting relationships with him and his team. Natik Projects also tends to form longstanding relationships with subcontractors and suppliers. Vince describes those relationships as “deeprooted, just like our client relationships,” “We deal with a handful of the same vendors, the same suppliers, and the same subcontractors over and over,” he says. “That’s important, because the market is so complex here that it’s very difficult to bridge and bring in new partners, because there’s such a massive learning curve. Even we are still learning every day how to navigate the issues we’re facing here. It’s really tough for new people and companies who don’t have that northern experience.” “We find there’s a lot of value in being able to keep and maintain healthy relationships with partners who understand the market and who know what they’re doing,” he adds. “Fortunately, I think the relationships we have are really healthy. We’re lucky to work with some really great people and we want to keep those relationships strong.” THE CONSTRUCTION SOURCE CANADA
