Vallex Construction’s story is one of resilience, technical depth, and quiet ambition. Based in Vancouver, BC, the company has built an unrivalled industry reputation within the earthworks and deep foundation sector, delivering piling, excavation, ground support, and civil infrastructure services across British Columbia. According to Mehrdad Zargari, the company’s principal, that reputation is the result of decades of international engineering experience, a commitment to doing things the right way, and a vision that stretches far beyond the company’s current footprint. Mehrdad’s background is firmly rooted in geotechnical engineering. He earned a bachelor’s in mining engineering in 1998 and a master’s in rock mechanics in 2000 at a leading Iranian university. Over the next 14 years he specialized in hydroelectric infrastructure – designing dams, water tunnels and one of the world’s largest underground powerhouses in Tajikistan. He also worked on the Karun 4 Dam in Iran, a 230-meterhigh double-curvature arch dam. “I was involved from the design stage all the way through to reservoir impoundment,” he recalls. Managing those technically demanding projects – and even running multi-thousand-person crews – laid the groundwork for Vallex’s exacting standards today. After immigrating to Canada in 2014, Mehrdad joined SNC-Lavalin to support the John Hart power house replacement project in Campbell River, completing all excavation works in a 21-month schedule. He then served as Tunnel Construction Manager for the Site C Dam under Peace River Hydro Partners (PRHP), where he honed his skills in large-scale project coordination and contractor relations. Yet by 2018, driven by a desire to be closer to family and leverage his specialized skill set, he founded Vallex Construction. From day JULY 2025
