When Brian Duffie reflects on the story of Briduco Enterprises, he doesn’t think back to 1998, the year the company was incorporated. Instead, he thinks about the 1940s, when his grandfather returned home from World War II and used his skills digging trenches in the military to start a business digging sewer lines in Hamilton. That postwar initiative laid the foundation for a family legacy that has now stretched across three generations. “I’ve grown up around this work,” says Brian, who now leads the company. “Sewer and water work has been part of my family for as long as I can remember.” With deep roots in Hamilton, Ontario, Briduco Enterprises has grown steadily from a small family-run operation into a heavy civil construction firm with annual revenues in the $10 million range and a reputation that keeps the phones ringing without the need for flashy advertising. These days, Briduco specializes in sewer and water excavation, supporting residential, commercial, and infrastructure development projects within about an hour’s radius of its Hamilton headquarters. The company’s largest completed project to date approached the $2 million mark, and Brian explains that Briduco is well-positioned to continue taking on more lucrative and complex work. Their scope is flexible, but the team always focuses on quality and consistency over chasing volume. One project Brian is particularly proud of is a recent multi-storey condo build in downtown Grimsby.
